Official Rulebook


1. Segment Overview

Participants design a 4 wheel automobile model in digital medium (3D), fabricate a physical scale model and present the result at the Autofest exhibition floor.

Segment Information

  • Segment Code: BAF26-3DM

  • Format: Design → Fabricate → Exhibit → Defend

  • Team Size: 1–4 members

  • Registration Fee: BDT 999 per team

  • Venue: Aloki, Dhaka

  • Exhibition Date: 17.07.2026 & 18.07.2026


2. Definitions

Entry

One team + one model + one submission package.

Digital Model

Native 3D file (CAD, polygon, surface models) plus neutral format export.
Model components must be watertight and 3D printable.
Both physical and digital models must be of the same scale.
See Section 6.

Physical Model

Fabricated scale artifact presented on the exhibition floor.
Maximum dimensions: 500 × 500 × 500 mm.
See Section 7.

Fabrication Process

Scaled model making techniques, additive manufacturing (3D printing) of any process family, or mixed methods.
See Section 7.

Submission Deadline

See Section 5.


3. Eligibility

E-1

Open to currently enrolled university students only (undergraduate or postgraduate).

Valid student ID required at registration and at check-in.

A participant may appear on one team only.

Cross-institution teams are permitted.

E-5

Organizers, judges, and their immediate relatives may not compete.


4. Scope & Entry Format

All entries compete in a single combined pool—there are no separate categories or award tracks.

S-1

An entry may be a concept vehicle prototype of 4 wheels.
Sub-system level implementations are not mandatory; participants are encouraged to focus on vehicle packaging and exterior.

Entries are judged according to the rubric described in Section 9.

One entry per team.

6. Digital Model Rules

D-1

Any CAD package or 3D modeling software is permitted, including SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Fusion 360, Blender, Onshape, FreeCAD, Alias, Rhino3D, etc.

D-2

Submit both:

  • Native project file

  • Neutral export (.STEP / .IGES / Parasolid / OBJ / STL)

Declare the software name and version inside readme.txt.

D-3

The model must be original work produced by participants.

D-4

Downloaded, purchased or AI-generated design geometry is prohibited as primary content.
Commercial assets (tires, lamps, etc.) must be declared.

D-5

Existing production vehicles may only be used as styling references.
Geometry must be modeled from scratch.

D-6

Reference vehicles, if any, must be listed in the Design Report.

D-7

Modeling history / Feature Tree must remain intact where applicable.

D-8

A screen recording or screenshot process log must be available if requested during dispute resolution.

D-9

Minimum deliverables:

  • 3D Model

  • Rendered Images


7. Physical Model Rules

P-1

Fabrication by 3D printing is preferred.
Hybrid methods are also permitted.

P-2

Any additive manufacturing process is allowed including:

  • FDM

  • SLA / MSLA

  • SLS

  • MJF

  • Others

P-3

Maximum size:
500 × 500 × 500 mm

A pedestal is required if the model exceeds 5 kg.

P-4

Scale must be clearly stated and remain consistent.

Recommended scales:

  • 1:10

  • 1:18

  • 1:24

P-5

Post-processing is permitted including:

  • Sanding

  • Priming

  • Painting

  • Decals

P-6

All non-printed elements must be listed in the Design Report.

P-7

Functional features are optional but receive bonus credit.

P-8

The following are prohibited:

  • Pyrotechnics

  • Exposed mains voltage

  • Unprotected LiPo batteries

  • Corrosive chemicals

  • Volatile chemicals

P-9

Battery-powered models are limited to 12V DC or below.


8. Submission Package

Participants must submit:

    • Parasolid

  3. Design Report

    • PDF

  4. Poster / PPT

    • Carry during exhibition

    • No prior submission required

  5. Process Log

    • Images or Video

  6. Originality Declaration

    • Signed PDF

9. Judging Criteria

Design Quality & Aesthetics — 20%

Assessed on:

  • Proportion

  • Packaging

  • Surfacing

  • Styling coherence

Execution of Vision — 20%

Assessed on:

  • Match with concept

  • Design Report consistency

3D Digital Model Craftsmanship — 15%

Assessed on:

  • Feature Tree

  • Sketch discipline

  • Parametric robustness

Physical Model Build Quality — 30%

Assessed on:

  • Dimensional fidelity

  • Surface finish

  • Assembly fit

Innovation & Functionality — 10%

Assessed on:

  • Moving parts

  • Electronics

  • Novel concepts

Presentation & Defense — 5%

Assessed on:

  • Poster

  • Slides

  • Question & Answer session

Total Score: 100%

Judging consists of two rounds:

  1. Initial Shortlisting

  2. Floor Evaluation

Judges' decisions are final.


10. Penalties & Disqualification

Late Digital Submission

  • 5% deduction every 3 hours

  • Maximum delay allowed: 24 hours

  • Rejected afterward

Missing Deliverables

  • Disqualification

  • Missing Design Report results in a 20% deduction

Oversized or Unsafe Model

Excluded from the exhibition floor.

Undeclared Third-Party Geometry

Disqualification.

Plagiarism or Reused Previous Entry

Disqualification.

Unsafe Exhibit, Misconduct or Harassment

Immediate removal.

Absence During Judging

Presentation marks forfeited.

12. Intellectual Property & Media

IP-1

Teams retain full ownership of their designs.

IP-2

EELEVEN and sponsors receive a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to photograph, display and publish entries for promotional purposes.

IP-3

Submitted files will not be redistributed as printable assets without written permission.

IP-4

Promotional use outside Bangladesh Autofest by sponsors requires separate participant consent.


13. Code of Conduct

Respectful behavior toward participants, volunteers, judges and visitors is mandatory.

  • Damage to venue property is the responsibility of the team.

  • Models must remain attended or properly secured during exhibition hours.

  • Organizers are not liable for loss or damage.


14. Appeals

Scoring judgments and final results are not appealable.

Only procedural errors (such as missing deliverables) may be appealed before judging closes.
